Definitions

  • Sexual Violence (SV)  Defined as sexual activity that occurs when consent is not obtained or given freely.
    • Rape is anal, oral, or vaginal penetration that is forced or alcohol/drug-facilitated.
    • Rape-related pregnancy includes pregnancy that a rape victim attributed to rape.
    • Reproductive coercion is when a person exerts power and control over reproduction through interference with contraception use and pregnancy pressure.
    • Sexual coercion is unwanted sexual penetration that occurs after a person is pressured in a non-physical way.
  • Consent- Is permission for something to happen or agreement to do something. Saying AND hearing the word YES is imperative. Consent is on-going. Communicate with your partner frequently, and confirm YES before moving forward. This is to happen every time when involved in any sexual activity.
