- Over 3 million women have experienced pregnancy resulting from rape during their lifetime.
- 28% experienced a sexually transmitted disease
- 66% were injured and 80% were fearful or concerned for their safety
- Approximately 5 million have experienced pregnancy resulting from sexual coercion during their lifetime.
- 35% experienced a sexually transmitted disease
- Non-Hispanic multiracial women experience higher rates of rape, sexual coercion, or both compared with non-Hispanic White, non-Hispanic Black, and Hispanic women.
- Women raped by a current or former intimate partner were more likely to report rape-related pregnancy (26%) than those raped by a stranger (6.9%) or an acquaintance (5.2%).
- 30% of the women who were raped by an intimate partner also experienced reproductive coercion from the same person.
- 20% reported that their partner tried to make them pregnant when they didn’t want to or tried to stop them from using birth control.
- ~23% said their partner refused to use a condom.
