Essential nutrient- Water

Essential nutrient group

Water-

  • Water has no direct nutritional value, but it is necessary to live
  • Our body is made up of 60% water
    • Water is lost through breathing, sweating, loss of urine/voiding, and other body processes
  • Water is replaced by drinking water and other beverages, eating foods high in fluid content like soups, fruits, and veggies.
  • Daily recommended water intake varies. You should drink enough to not feel thirsty and produce 1-2 Q of colorless or slightly yellow urine per day*.
    • An individualized approach is to drink half of your body weight of pounds in ounces. (Example: If you weigh 130 pounds, drink 65 ounces of water)
